About the opportunity:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Fleet & Shop Operations you will be responsible for shop and field mechanical work involving overhauling, repairing, servicing, and maintaining of City heavy-duty fleet and equipment. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical system faults or malfunctions utilizing electronic and computerized testing equipment to determine the extent of the repair required. Following established trade practices, you will exercise considerable independence of judgement and action in completing your assignments in a safe manner.
About your background:
You have a valid BC or Inter-Provincial Heavy Duty Equipment Technician qualification (formerly known as Heavy Duty Mechanic) or a Certified Truck and Transport Mechanic qualification coupled with extensive heavy equipment experience. You have a minimum of five years’ current experience working as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician including recent experience working with electronic and computer data analysis for trouble shooting, tune-ups and adjustments. A valid, full privilege Class 3 driver’s license with airbrake endorsement is required as well as a commitment to providing quality customer service. Also, as a condition of employment, the incumbent must obtain and maintain a clear Police Information Check for offenses related to the position.
