The Opportunity:

Manager: Child Care Centre

Caledonia Early Care and Learning Centre (the centre), located in Prince George, BC, is looking for an experienced Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the centre, staff and children.

The Role:

The Manager reports to the Board of the Child Care Society and operates the Centre within the established policies, while working with staff and parents to develop a quality childcare program. The incumbent will also liaise with the Early Childhood Education Faculty at College of New Caledonia to ensure that the Center’s programming is current and relevant while also providing Early Child Care Learning (ECCL) students the opportunity to gain valuable learning experiences.

The People:

• We are a small centre, with 4 full time ECEs, 1 custodial staff member, and the possibility of additional casual or part time staff. We have a maximum capacity of 24 children.
• You will work with a great team of well-rounded and qualified educators, in a friendly and safe space.
• We have a mixed group of families, many long standing, helping to ensure the centre’s stability.
• Linked to CNC, the centre has a long standing positive relationship with the ECCL program, leading to creative collaborations that support the children, staff, students, and manager’s growth.
• The centre partners with Pedagogists to ensure effective learning strategies for educators and children are used and supported.

The Benefits:

• A competitive compensation package: $27-30 per hour based on education and experience plus any applicable government enhancements, currently $4 per hour. Benefit plan is comprised of extended health (including Vision Care, Paramedical Services) Dental benefits, Group Life Insurance and AD&D.
• Hours: This is a full-time position, 35 hours per week (7 hours per day, 5 days per week). This role has flexibility in scheduling, based on operational requirements.

Qualifications:

• Valid ECE Certificate and current registration with the B.C. Community Care Facilities Licensing Board.
• Five years’ experience post ECE Certification with preschool children and their parents preferred, of which includes 1 year experience in a supervisory capacity.
• Ideal candidate will have additional experience in ECE administration and financial management.
