Nurse Job in Prince George, BC

Prince George Youth Custody Services provides custody as well as remand and pre-court detention for male and female residents in custody under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

This role provides consultation, advice, guidance, and recommendations in complex situations after assessment of clinical issues which may be unique, or which involve many variables, such as court dates and security concerns. The Nurse is involved in problem resolution, evaluating the effectiveness of policies / services, and developing new approaches to resolve emerging or complex issues affecting the residents and staff. This role is also responsible for community liaisons to provide continuation of care.

Qualifications for this role include:

• Registered or eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nursing Professionals/BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
   
  • NOTE:  If your degree or diploma was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). Confirmation of equivalency of your degree is required for you to be considered. Please indicate in your resume (include a copy of the approval; if in progress), proof must be provided on or by the closing date of the posting. You must also be eligible for BCCNM registration before the posting closing date.
  • NOTE:  Internationally educated nurses who have never been registered in Canada may be eligible for registration to practice as an RN in B.C. Important: Before starting a BCCNM application, you must first apply to the National Nursing Assessment Service (NNAS). 
     
• Preferred experience working with adolescents from diverse cultural backgrounds.
