In cooperation with community partners and College staff, this position is responsible for developing, planning, implementing, administering, and evaluating a variety of project offerings at CNC for seniors as related to the funding from the New Horizons Senior Inclusion Solutions. This is a position whose decisions and actions have significant impact on the operations of the campus and and the College, as accountability is to external as well as internal partners. This position is directly responsible for generating sufficient new projects to meet the objectives and sustain the outcomes of the New Horizons project. Seniors are defined as persons over 55 years of age for this project.
Specific Duties:
As related to the New Horizons project funding and to seniors, duties may include:
- assess industry and community training and education needs;
- research industry standards and requirements;
- research labour market data;
- identify and investigate adult training and education opportunities based on needs from research findings and determine activities the College will pursue;
- write proposals, participate in negotiation of proposals with funding partners including College partners;
- develop project budgets, participate in negotiation of budgets with funding partners;
- ensure the financial viability of all projects, taking into account all direct and indirect costs;
- manage project budgets, responsible to ensure funds are expended appropriately within budget and auditing guidelines
- establish comprehensive marketing and advertising processes;
- document project objectives and appropriate content, with the required community, staff and administrative support and resources;
- perform prescribed tasks of staff recruitment, training, development and maintenance processes; ensuring faculty are informed about administrative processes relevant to their educational activities;
- communicate with community partners, staff and seniors regarding project changes such as dates, times, locations, promotional activities, budgets, policies and decisions and other administrative issues arising;
- prepare a variety of complex, multi-year, multi-program reports for either internal or external uses;
- establish and communicate reporting structures and functions for each project;
- initiate and facilitate collaborative group work in the community and the College, often with groups where no previous relationship exists, and where the reputation of the College’s work is at stake;
- compose and distribute documents such as agendas, minutes, reports, etc.;
- write business cases, briefing notes, and make recommendations on research as needed for each project;
- attend meetings, communicate, advise on vision, direction, and opportunities as well as all policies and procedures affecting the work with internal and external partners;
- be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners and communities.
- promote a positive work atmosphere and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.

Skills & Qualifications:
- relevant degree preferred, or diploma plus related experience may be considered;
- 3 – 5 years in project management with demonstrated success;
- excellent oral and written communication skills, skills must be demonstrated;
- education and experience in proposal and grant writing, with proven results;
- demonstrated understanding of education as relates to seniors;
- proven ability to facilitate collaborative group work;
- demonstrated ability to effectively manage all resources for project completion;
- proven experience working with industry / business / community partners in education / training / projects;
- cultural knowledge of diverse people and populations (i.e. diverse abilities, indigenous, international, etc.)
- able to build positive working relationships with diverse people and populations (i.e. diverse abilities, indigenous, international, etc.)
- working knowledge of training needs assessments, funding agencies, labour market research, and industry, business, and community resources;
- excellent skills in problem-solving, including the ability to resolve a variety of unusual conditions using both analytical skills and the development of new information on the problem situation;
- proven ability to exercise organizational and routine supervisory skills;
- ability to work with continuous interruptions and to coordinate activities within the work of the unit;
- ability to work independently and meet extremely demanding work schedules and deadlines;
- ability to motivate to maintain quality services in a constantly changing environment;
- proven ability to maintain positive working relationships (internally and externally) in an extremely demanding environment, to work with tact and diplomacy, and to be persuasive about the abilities of the College to meet community and senior needs;
- knowledge and experience with marketing processes;
- utilization of appropriate technological resources;
- must have a valid driver’s license.
