Senior Policy Analyst Job in Prince George, BC

The Recovery Policy and Appeals unit provides policy and appeals support for broader provincial recovery issues as well as Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) program-specific policy issues. This unit works collaboratively with the Recovery Funding Program unit, which delivers recovery funding through the DFA program and coordinates federal funding through the Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements agreement with the Government of Canada. This position will report to the Director of Recovery Policy and Appeals.

The Senior Policy Analyst will provide project planning, research, analysis, policy development, and coordination, in support of key priority projects. This will involve working with the Director, senior decision makers across government, and ministries to identify key policy, legislative and other decisions required; coordinate engagement with key partners; create and move decisions documents through executive committees and Cabinet; and coordinate plans for implementation.

Qualifications for this role include:

• Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, Law or a related field PLUS 2 years of related* experience; OR
• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, Law or a related field PLUS 3 years of related* experience; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related* experience is defined as a combination of the following:

• Experience in the development and implementation of legislation, regulation, and/or policy.
• Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents, including briefing notes, letters, reports, and presentations.
• Experience providing public policy advice and recommendations to senior management, ministry executive and government officials.
• Experience leading project teams including planning and coordination of complex projects (consisting of professionals/subject matter experts) and directing the work of others (contractors, internal/external partners).
