As a member of the Winton team, the Shipping Chargehand assists and supports the Yard Foreman to ensure the Shipping and Receiving crew works in a safe, efficient manner while meeting production targets and quality standards. The Shipping Chargehand performs a variety of tasks related to managing departmental workflow including operating a forklift.

Our Shipping Chargehand is primarily responsible for:

• Ensuring a safe work environment is maintained and all known hazards/concerns are reported.
• Operating a forklift to safely deliver and unload lumber to the wall and truss plants and load finished product in preparation for shipping.
• Working with other Forklift Operators to ensure product quantities are confirmed and any discrepancies are recorded.
• Assisting in ensuring the yard is properly maintained for the safe and efficient storage of goods.
• Reporting any concerns (employee, quality, deficiencies) to the Yard Foreman as they occur.
• Assisting with submitting reports and records pertaining to safety, quality, shipping and production.
• Participating in monthly and annual inventories.
• Providing back-up assistance in the absence of the Yard.

You are the Ideal candidate if you possess the following qualifications and skills:

• A demonstrated commitment to safety and the safe operation of equipment.
• A minimum of two years’ forklift operation experience.
• A minimum of two years’ experience in shipping and/or receiving.
• A minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to set priorities and multitask.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Enjoy working in a fast paced, team environment.
• Proficient with various computer.

The wage range for this full-time position is $23.48 to $27.10 per hour based on experience. In addition, extended health and dental benefits are available following 90 days of employment.
