Structural Inspection Technician
$66,557.72 – $75,884.38 annually

The Structural Engineering Group manages contracted engineering services and provides technical advice, recommendations and policy compliance monitoring for the design, construction, inspection, renewal and maintenance of bridges and other structures for the provincial highway system.

Under the direction of the Asset Condition and Renewal Engineers, the Structural Inspection Technician assists with determining the major maintenance and/or renewal work required for bridges and other highway structures in the region and the province. This position also assists in programming renewal needs to achieve an acceptable level of safety, function and appearance. This position may oversee work to verify that the renewal or major maintenance is carried out to the designs, specifications and standards for the contracted work.

Qualifications for this role include:

• Grade 12 Graduate with at least four (4) years of related* experience, or
• Grade 12 Graduate with BCIT Bridge Inspector Certification or equivalent and three (3) years of related* experience, or
• Technical Diploma (Preferably in Civil and Structural or Chemical and Metallurgical) and two (2) years of related* experience.

*Related experience must include all of the following:

• Experience with bridge and structural technology and related materials, and;
• Considerable experience with bridge drawings, recording condition states and extents for bridge components, and;
• Considerable experience with bridge rehabilitation and maintenance.
