Prince George is the headquarters for Northern Health, which provides health services and hospitals for Quesnel north to the BC-Yukon border. Prince George is home to the University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC), which is the largest acute care facility within the region it serves and a hub for specialized services for surrounding communities. In addition to numerous family practices, residents of Prince George can access care through two walk-in clinics. Prince George also offers cancer treatment and care through the BC Cancer Agency Centre for the North, which opened its doors in November 2012.
