About the opportunity:
In this analytical role, you will be responsible for claims administration, which includes managing both direct damage claims and third-party claims. This position involves developing, coordinating, and administering the City’s corporate risk management programs, as well as processing insurance and liability claims. The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including claims management, report writing, research, and providing technical and analytical support as needed.
About your background:
You have a two-year post-secondary diploma or a bachelor’s degree in a related field. If you hold a bachelor’s degree, you need two years of progressive experience in the insurance industry, which may include roles in brokerage, claims adjusting, or risk management. If you have a diploma, you are required to have five years of related progressive experience in the same areas. One of the following certifications would be an asset: Licensed Insurance Adjuster, Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), or Certificate in Risk Management (CRM). A valid class 5, full privilege BC driver’s license (or out-of-province equivalent) and clear Police Information Check for offenses related to the position are required. We may consider less than fully qualified applicants provided they have at least 5 years of related experience in the insurance industry such as brokerage, claims adjusting or risk management, including negotiating and settling insurance claims.
