Manager, Northern Health
Proprietor, High Yield Products Inc.
Age: 36
On three major and very different files, Chantelle Wilson has played a pivotal role in the health and wellness of our community. Her leadership is born, raised, educated and implemented in Prince George. Her trajectory was exactly what the founders of UNBC had in mind, as she went from being a happy, healthy little Prince George kid to a dedicated professional focused on the happiness and health of new generations of Prince George kids – all through the doors of UNBC and the University Hospital of Northern BC.
After obtaining her Psychology degrees – bachelor and master – from her hometown university, she has been employed by Northern Health. One of her key areas of focus was the Northern Attachment Network, volunteering countless hours helping Dr. Cindy Hardy bring training and awareness to other healthcare professionals on the issue of parent-child attachment.
A second portfolio, said one of her supporters, is the Northern Health Assessment Network, which she manages. “The program provides assessments and diagnoses for children and youth who are suspected of having Autism Spectrum Disorder, Complex Developmental Behavioral Conditions, (including) Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.”
And the third program, again she is the manager, is the critically important SCAN Clinic, which helps detect child maltreatment, sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, or forms of neglect.
Atop all the work and volunteerism that goes with this healthcare hat-trick, she and her husband are also entrepreneurs. Together they founded High Yield Products Inc., an environmentally friendly pest solution for plants.
“We have brought an idea to market,” she said. “Our product started as a solution to insect infestations. Today we have been successful in starting the patent process, having our product manufactured, and selling worldwide.”
There are many branches to healthcare, involving the body and the environment, and Chantelle Wilson feels the pulse of each one.
