Happy September! I personally can’t believe how fast summer flew by. It seemed like I was just celebrating graduations with the class of 2017 and next week we’re getting ready to welcome the class of 2018 for their first day of their final year.
As the calendar turns to September 1st, a lot of things are going to start happening. Coffee moves from iced to not, sweaters come out of the top of the closest and pumpkin spice starts its annual invasion. Everyone is back into a routine and calendars start to fill.
As you start planning your fall calendars, I want you to ensure that a few local events are added to your social calendar. Not only are these great events but the proceeds support local non-profits.
Friends of the Children Glow Golf Tournament
Prince George Friends of Children Glow Golf Tournament – September 9th at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club
In the past, I’ve had the opportunity to participate in local glow in the dark golf tournaments in support of other causes. After a few years’ hiatus, the Friends of Children Glow Golf Tournament is coming back in a big way. It’s not too late to get involved in this event and support local kids who need assistance covering medical expenses. It only costs $200 for your team of four, but register right away as spaces are limited. Not a golfer? Who cares! It’s not about the golf, it’s about the kids.
Plot Twist – September 22nd in Support of the Prince George Public Library
Plot Twist is a salute to the decadence of the 1920s! There’ll be a DJ and dance hall, gambling hall, live entertainment, including jazz from Zavan Trio and performances by the Foxxie Follies, snacks and a complimentary glass of Champagne. Tickets are only $45 each at the Prince George Public Libary. This is a night you won’t want to miss.
Way Late Play Date
Way Late Play Date 4 – September 30th in support of The Exploration Place
If you are a parent, you know how awesome The Exploration Place is for kids. You can spend hours there playing with the water table, exploring the galleries and seeing the animals. Now imagine going in after hours without the kids! Throw in a DJ, games, food and cocktails and you have yourself a fun night. Tickets for the Way Late Play Date 4 are $30 each, but you might as throw in a games pass for an extra $10! It’s for the kids’ right? I have been to a few of these events in the past and had a great time. Book your sitter now.
Scotch and Social (October 14th) in support of Theatre NorthWest
The Scotch and Social event hosted by Theatre NorthWest has introduced me to the wonderful world of scotch! This event is perfect not only for the scotch enthusiast but also for someone looking to get introduced. You can find out what you like and the best part is they introduce you to bottles that won’t break the bank. Tickets are $75.00 each and help support local professional theatre.
Menagerie: ‘Banished to the Bayou’ (October 28th) in support of Two Rivers Gallery
This event is the ultimate Halloween event for adults. No questions. The Two Rivers Gallery Facebook page for Menagerie: ‘Banished to the Bayou’ says it best “In keeping with the theme this event is much more than just a costume party and promises an exciting evening filled with entertainment, fun and games – truly a night to let it out.” Buy your tickets before September 15th and get them for only $45! Commit to the night and you will definitely have a night to remember.
