Dragon Stone Mongolian Grill
Age: 27
Dragon Stone Mongolian Grill has established itself as one of the premiere Asian-themed restaurants in town. The success of Dragon Stone is due to many factors, first and foremost being its owner, Janine Phillips. Janine graduated with honors from the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) Business Management program. Afterwards, she worked at Boston Pizza for eight years as a server and Community Resource Manager, and finally as the General Manager. In that time, she involved herself in numerous community events, including becoming a leader with Beaver Scouts Canada.
“She is hugely supportive of all her staff, treating them like family,” said one supporter. “She is also amazing with customers and can help solve any problems they may have.” Janine is also on the board of directors of the North Cariboo Overland Adventures Association, promoting outdoor adventure, education, and environmental concerns. She is active in developing and organizing their inaugural fundraising event along with raising funds for other charities including Relay for Life, the Child Development Centre, the Northern Lights Wildlife Society, the Barkerville Heritage Fund, and Scouts Canada.
But most people know Janine as the owner of Dragon Stone Mongolian Grill.
“This ‘old soul’ is who we all call our complex ‘Fairy Godmother’ for how she goes beyond being a good neighbour,” says the owner of one of Dragon Stone’s neighboring businesses. “She keeps a watchful eye on our grounds, makes sure everything is running smoothly, clean, orderly, and of the high standards of a new complex. By the time there’s an issue, Janine has it covered.”
At only 27 years old, Janine’s maturity and outlook have placed her leaps and bounds ahead of the crowd, allowing her to succeed in her business and personal endeavours.
