Sagar Saxena is the Community Engagement and Partnerships Officer at School District 91. His role has him connecting and building strategic partnerships between industry, district, and community organizations. Sagar moved to Canada nearly four years ago, selecting Prince George as his new hometown where he has been residing since with his wife and five-year-old son.
“Sagar has a sharp wit and eye for connecting the right people in the room (and region) to make things happen,” says one supporter. “He combines his international experience, optimism and strategic action-oriented personality to ensure that change making and economic development projects move forward.”
Together with his wife, Shobha, they run Our Satya, an organization calling on the global community to support women in positions of distress, poverty, and clear socio-economic and political conditions. Through community-based health education, awareness, and medical training, Our Satya is committed to helping women in India reclaim their voices and protect the health and livelihood of their children. They have also done outreach to women in need within our region. Sagar’s community work includes serving on the board of Innovation Central Society and helping to make The Hubspace a reality. Furthermore, he is a committee member of the Prince George Chamber of Commerce.
Sagar expanded the University of Northern British Columbia’s (UNBC) Office of Research portfolio to respond to the economic diversification and research needs of first nations, governments, industries, and communities within Northern BC. He initiated SD91’s tangible partnership with five major university/colleges in BC within six months and spearheaded a $15 million potential biorefinery project for UNBC.
