There’s never a shortage of things to do in our beautiful city of Prince George; however, I want to share how to create a super fun-filled Saturday with my personal favourites of the best Prince George has to offer!
Coffee and hike at Teapot Mountain
Start your day early (and if you are like me, early is at like 8 am) – grab a thermos filled with coffee and your hiking boots and make the short drive out to Teapot Mountain. This short, steep hike is the perfect way for any level of hiker to start their day. Be sure to keep an eye out for all the hidden teapots on the way to the top.
As this hike is only a couple of kilometres, you’ll reach the top within an hour where you will be met by breathtaking panoramic views. Now pull out your blanket and pop open your thermos and enjoy some morning sun and views while you sip your java. After you’ve had a nice relaxing break, you can take your short descent back down the mountain.
Kayak at Summit Lake
After your short stroll up Teapot, if your kayaks or canoes are already loaded, continue down the same road and you will find the boat launch to quiet and beautiful Summit Lake. Launch your boats and go for a long or short paddle around the lake, through and around the islands.
Late brunch at Yolks All Day or D’lanos
Come back to town for a late brunch at one of my two favourite brunch spots: Yolks All Day or D’Lanos. Yolks is perfect if you’re looking for a small spot with literally the best potato hash browns (think the seasonings of Tim Horton’s hash browns on fresh sliced and deep-fried potatoes). Or if you’re looking for an omelette that will blow your mind in a family restaurant environment, stop by D’Lanos – my personal favourite is the Omelette Supreme.
Afternoon stroll
Entrance to the Heritage River Trail system at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.
Walk off your brunch with an afternoon stroll through the many eclectic downtown shops or cruise over to Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park for a stroll and a stop for ice cream at the Frozen Paddle (located in the Little Prince Steam Engine and Ice Cream Shop next to The Exploration Place).
Dinner at the Canadian Brewhouse or White Goose Bistro
Then depending on your mood, enjoy one of my two favourite eats for dinner.
If you’re in the mood for some pub-style food, plenty of drinks and the best patio in town, head to the Brewhouse and enjoy some boneless wings on their rooftop patio.
If you’re in the mood for something quieter and more upscale, then head downtown to the White Goose Bistro for a delicious dinner with plentiful choices of food and wine, sure to please anyone’s tastebuds. Feeling adventurous? Try the chef’s special and let Chef Ryan surprise you with five delicious courses.
End your day at the Park Drive-In Theatre

Finally, end your day with an old-time favourite and take a trip out to one of the only drive-in theatres left in Canada. You can enjoy some fantastic cinema while munching on delicious snacks such as poutine (plus you can snuggle in your own blankies) – does a movie night get any better than that!?
