Prince George really does have some of the best local restaurants to offer! So if you’ve got a hot date for Valentine’s Day or any other day, a special occasion, or just a babysitter and kid-free night, read on for reviews on the hottest spots for a dinner reservation in downtown Prince George! It has been a wonder watching the downtown core grow and develop over the years. It’s a completely different scene than it was 10 years ago. As a self-proclaimed foodie and bit of a restaurant snob (‘cause if I could make it at home I would), it is my pleasure to share the 10 best local restaurants for date night in Prince George.
Cimo Mediterranean Grill
We love the ambiance, décor, service, as well as the patio in the warmer months. Bread service and pasta Wednesdays. Downtown on Victoria Street. Open for business lunch at 11:30 also. Cimo Mediterranean Grill is an award-winning restaurant inspired by fresh, handpicked ingredients. Come experience the tastes of Italy!
The Twisted Cork
The Twisted Cork is a local eatery serving upscale tapas and Canadian comfort food accompanied by a huge selection of BC wines. Pull open the solid wood wrought iron doors and be transported into a different time. We love the dim lights and privacy. Oh and love the crème brule is to die for!
Nancy O’s Restaurant
No kids allowed at Nancy O’s! Any time of day. So you know you’re safe to drop an f-bomb. They boast a relaxing atmosphere where you can be yourself and rub shoulders with 19-90 year olds. We love the rotating seasonal menu, the nightlife (frequent music and comedy shows) and the hole in the wall, secret society feeling we get when we visit.
Betulla Burning
This not too little pizzeria has been serving authentic Neapolitan pizza in downtown Prince George since 2016. Betulla Burning’s philosophy on food is simple: take ancient Neapolitan cooking techniques that are steeped in tradition and put a modern spin on it. We love the pizza, and the entertainment design style of the open kitchen and woodfire pizza oven, but have you tried the handmade pasta? The original cocktails? The patio, surrounded with in house grown seasonal herbs? It’s to die for!
Trench Brewing & Distillery
While craft beer is relatively new in Prince George, the locals are already lining up to get their growlers filled at Trench Brewing and Distilling. Prince George’s newest microbrewery, now serving the best tacos in town! Move over Amigos!
Crossroads Brewing
We love CrossRoad’s concept first and foremost and how it truly represents Prince George, but also, the design, décor, local niche menu, brews, local partnerships and hey, where else can you find a year-round patio WITH curling ice? Nowhere, that’s where.
White Goose Bistro
White Goose Bistro never disappoints. We love their speedy lunch service too, but the chef really wows at dinner service. They offer a sophisticated yet casual restaurant that can and will meet your every need. Their mission is to provide a unique but gratifying dine-in experience where the menu and service complement each other to achieve perfect harmony.
North 54 Restaurant
Boasting fresh and seasonal pasta, salads, seafood, and sandwich items in their stylish steak house restaurant. There’s always something new at North 54. Using only the finest local ingredients, North 54 prepares each dish from scratch, bring an amazing culinary experience to your palate. Fresh creations are offered daily.
Shogun Japanese Steakhouse
Dinner and a show with this classic teppanyaki restaurant located at the Coast Inn of the North. We love this for parties and larger groups, but it is also great for those more adventurous couples, who don’t mind being seated at a social table. We also love two for one Tuesdays (check the website or Facebook page for updates) and always go all out with the dragon meal!
The Bistro at Northern Lights Estate Winery
Prince George’s first restaurant on the river! Northern Lights Estate Winery started as a winery, but is constantly growing and has expanded to include a bistro. We love their creativity and spirit, local fuit wine selection, events, brunch, but most of all, the bistro menu is delicious, local and sure not to disappoint. But we’re biased, because this is where we got engaged this winter!
Every time I have company visiting, I’m ecstatic to share about all the best food in town. My last visitor, a friend from Jasper, boasted that:
“PG has really got it going on!”
And I tend to agree. Till next time we’ll be living, loving, and eating it all up in Prince George.
