You might be asking yourself, “How is it almost Easter again?” or “What am I going to with the kids this year?” Well, so are we three over at Northern BC Moms, but the difference this year is that we can see the light at the end of the tunnel! The snow is melting, restrictions are easing in BC, and outdoor activities are starting up again. Although we may not be participating in big group Easter Egg Hunt, there are some really affordable and inventive things you can do to celebrate Easter this year with your family!
Easter bunny photos
PG famous photographer, Kelly Bergman of BergMedia Creative Agency is hosting distanced Easter Bunny mini sessions at Great White Toys. Book now as spaces are limited! Kelly belives that photos help us capture and remember feelings of the past and can make us feel excited about the future too.
We love marking the season with photos taken by various photographers in town, but always look forward to Kelly’s seasonal photo sessions. We have many years of Santa photos taken by Kelly when he did them at the Pine Centre mall and even had the pleasure of having Berg Media photos done at our son’s school. Needless to say, we’re big fans.
Dollar Store haul
Head on down to the Dollar Store! This is one of our kid’s favourite places to visit and you don’t have to worry about breaking the bank. It’s a one stop shop with quality items for crafting, décor, and treats too! We picked up window clings, paint, an egg decorating kit, birdhouses, seed, Easter candy, and eggs to hide them in.

Cottonwood Park rock hunting
Have you heard of PG Rocks? It’s a local Facebook Group for people in PG to post pictures of the rocks they have painted and hidden or found. Cottonwood Island Park is the best place to find these rocks now that the snow has finally melted!
Or better yet, find some rocks and crack open some of that Dollar Store paint and decorate some rocks with your kids to hide for someone to find.
First bike ride of the year
The roads are dry and clear, so you know what that means? Time to tune up the bikes and get moving again!

Our favourite family friendly bike spots to hit are: L’heidli Tenneh Memorial Park and Ginter’s Meadow because they have cleared paved paths, but Ginter’s is an off leash dog park so cyclists beware of dogs and poop. For more advanced bikers, try Duchess Park Pump Track or Pidherny Skills Park in the Hart Highlands off Foothills!
Spring planting
It may seem a little early, but now is the time to start planting seeds! To plant indoors, pick up a couple trays (also available at the dollar store) or use old yogurt containers and water often. It’s warm inside. If planting outdoors, make sure you have a green house or small green shelter close to the house because it’s still getting cold at night. We ordered one from a Canadian company Alpha Outlets.

Decorate Easter eggs
Decorating eggs for Easter began in the Ukraine as a way to try to harness the power of the sun to bring about the resurrection of spring to start their crops. And what reminds you of the sun? An egg with its bright yellow centre and the life that springs from it! They adorned them with symbols such as the sun, a triangle, or lines that encircle the egg.
The Most EGGcelent Cruise
The team (Dave Horton’s Pandemic Friendly Entertainment, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Dayna Penson) that brought you Candy Cruise Prince George, the Family Day Adventure Cruise, and dozens of drive-in events wants is hosting the Most EGGcelent Cruise for Easter this year!
It’s a FREE, fun, safe, and city wide experience that has big payoffs! No registration is required. Just download and follow The EGGcellent Card as it leads you on a quest to get as many of the 25 activities completed as you can in 5 hours. The Eggcellent Card will be posted at 10:45 am on April 3rd and will contain all of the activities. These activities will take you all over the city as you capture photos, complete tasks, and pick up free giveaway items.
To ensure that everyone in Prince George can take part, many activities can be completed by using public transit or walking and a few can only be done by car. To be entered to win some amazing prizes, print or download The EGGcellent Card and mark the card when you complete challenges on April 3rd. Take pictures and post them, along with a copy of your fully or partially completed card, to Instagram or Facebook before 10 am on April 4th with #pgeggcelentcruise.
