Is it December already? How did 2019 go by so fast? I looked back at my last blog and I was talking about Finnegan just being born at UHNBC. Now he is rolling over, sleeping well (knock on wood), and is developing into a little human.
Like many people, I am preparing for a bit of time off in December. I am not going to lie when I say I am having a hard time getting into the holiday spirit. So I am taking some time to sit and think about what I can do to share the holiday magic with my family and hopefully get rid of my bah-humbugs. Here is my December 2019 bucket list.
Trip to the Northern Lights Estate Winery
The Northern Lights Estate Winery has made its orchard look beautiful. You can take a walk through the orchard and see all the lights while you are out in the fresh air. The lights at the orchard are on every night from 4-9 until December 31st. While there, grab a bottle or two of their cranberry wine. It is one of my favourites and really completes your Christmas dinner.
Celebration of Lights
So you can probably see that I love Christmas lights. The Celebration of Lights at the Railway and Forestry Museum is another must-do. They have tens of thousands of lights throughout the park and have great animated displays. While there, you can see Santa and take time exploring the various trains and displays. This event runs through the month of December starting on December 18th. Take your family. You won’t regret it!
Volunteer

There are tons of opportunities to volunteer through the month of December. I will be spending time each weekend volunteering at the Charity Gift Wrapping Booth at Pine Centre Mall. The booth is open throughout the month and proceeds support the mentoring programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS). If you are interested in signing up to volunteer visit bigsnbc.ca or find BBBS on Facebook.
There are also going to be opportunities to volunteer with Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul and many other awesome local non-profits.
Spend time with family

Lastly, I am going to take some time to relax with my three boys and wife. It has been a busy 2019 and I know relaxing and recharging is good for my soul and good for building my Christmas spirit. I am sure we are going to be up to no good during our time off. I am also sure you will see the journey through my Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts.
I am sure there are many more great activities to do throughout December. Feel free to share your favourite activities with me through my social media feeds.
Wishing you all a safe, relaxing and enjoyable Holiday season. Looking forward to sharing my Prince George love further in 2020 and looking forward to our paths crossing.
