Manager of Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
Canfor
Age: 30
This is Kara Biles’ second time on the Top 40 Under 40 list.
Since the last time her acclaimed career in the Human Resources field was spotlighted, she has been selected for Canfor’s Accelerated Leadership Program, taught classes at both CNC and UNBC, coached the Human Resources team for the JDC West competition, sat on the Two Rivers Gallery board (vice-president), and has been a Chamber of Commerce director for the past three years.
Before these latest achievements, Biles was the winner of the 2011 Rising Star Award by the HR Management Association of B.C., has multiple citations from the B.C. Deputy Minister’s and Premier’s awards in her field, and has earned deep respect within the forest industry.
She combines education (Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Marketing from UNBC, HR Management certificate, designations as both a Certified Human Resources Professional and a Registered Professional Recruiter, and more in the works) with her eight years of experience and something very difficult to teach: passion.
“Kara’s determination and spirit motivates everyone around her,” said one supporter.
“Kara has proven to be a real pioneer as a female leader in forestry and has been a real inspiration to me and many others in that regard,” said another.
A third said Biles “has proven herself to be an accomplished and caring person who wants the best for not only herself, but those around her as well.”
She said she does what she does because it is a form of community service for her hometown.
“My goals gravitate around growing, giving back and making a difference in both my workplace and my community,” she said. “I was born and raised in P.G., am familiar with the many facets of both business and HR opportunities and challenges in our area, and am passionate about northern B.C. and working to make our community a better place to live and work.”
Presented by the Prince George Chamber Of Commerce
