Prince George Halloween haunts

The sweetest and spookiest occasion of the year is just around the corner, so we three Northern BC Moms are here to share the best Prince George Halloween Haunts for families…and if you’re kid-free, read to the end for the scariest 19+ parties in downtown PG!

Huble Homestead Halloween Spooktakular

Huble Homestead Historic Site is a 30-minute drive north of Prince George, BC. Leave the city behind, and make your way up Highway 97, before turning off on Mitchell Road to continue another 6-kilometres down a well-maintained dirt road.

Enter Huble Homestead…if you dare! This bone-chilling, Halloween Spooktakular is taking place October 25th + 26th from 4:00 – 10:00 pm, giving those who feel up to the challenge one last opportunity this year to venture on up to the homestead. Find a flashlight, make sure your footwear is waterproof, and put together a costume warm enough for an evening at Prince George’s spookiest Halloween Haunt!

Those looking for a less scary experience can gather in the Welcome Barn for costume contests, pumpkin carving, and crafts, or head into the Animal Barn for magic shows with William the Conjurer. The fortune teller’s cabin summons you to see what the future holds!

For those preferring a more ghastly evening, a spooky maze with graveyard ghouls awaits you in the dark. For those looking for a truly terrifying experience, the House of Horrors beckons, with guided tours available for an extra charge of $3.50 per person, or $12.00 for a group of four. The goosebumps are free!

General admission:

  • Adults: $5.00
  • Children: $3.00
  • Seniors: $3.00
  • Family: $10.00

2nd Annual Hart Ski Hill Haunted House Fundraiser

The Hart Highlands Winter Club has been providing winter fun to the Prince George area for over 50 years. The beloved local ski hill was started by Ted Sadler, who wanted to make a community around a local recreational area. The Hart Ski Hill is Prince George’s only local ski and snowboard hill located within city limits. It’s only 15 minutes from downtown PG! We love it because it’s a great place for youngsters to learn before hitting the bigger hills in the area.

Barkerville’s Ghostly Halloween

Barkerville

Main Street – Barkerville.

Billy Barker’s legendary gold strike on Williams Creek triggered a multi-billion dollar industrial revolution that literally built a province. Today, the extraordinary historic town of Barkerville stands as a living testament to BC’s golden age. With its unique street-scape of more than 125 heritage buildings, period displays, satellite museums, restaurants and shops there is so so much to explore!

We highly suggest making the 1.5 hour trip south at any time of year…seriously! The summers are beautiful and bustling, but the shoulder and winter seasons have got just as much going on! Northern BC Moms guarantee, you’ll never be dissapointed, any time of year.

October 26th or 27th between 11:00 am – 5:00 pm and dare to explore spooky main-street and the haunted house. Check the event on Facebook for more details.

South Fort George Family Resource Centre

Last but not definitely not least, is the annual Halloween Party at the South Fort George Family Resource Centre. This is a free event in the gym, for families, with pizza, treats, games and fun for the whole family.

We spent all maternity leave basically living at the resource centre, so we make this one a priority, and book the day off work. It’s nice to reconnect with our friends and the staff there. They are an amazing group!

For more information on the services at the centre, check out our blog post on the SFGFRC. Hope to see you Wednesday, October 30th from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.

19+ Halloween Parties

If you can get a sitter or you’re in the pre-kid stage of life, there are also some awesome costume parties this year taking place the weekend before Halloween. Get your tickets early cause they’re sure to sell out.

Be safe out there folks, drive slowly on Halloween if you have to, but really, just don’t drive at all, make sure your costume is visible in the dark, eat all the stolen candy from your kids and most importantly have fun!

Happy Halloween from Bailey, Kate and V of Northern BC Moms!

We thought we’d celebrate the weekend outside and enjoy as much daylight as we can before the snow flies… ❄️ But it poured rain all morning! 🌧 And it was like a coastal, cold, brain freeze inducing downpour which is more reminiscent of our time in northwestern BC than the interior. 🥶 The rain paired with zero 💤 all round has got all of us feeling like MOMBIES! 🧟‍♀️ Aka sleep deprived supermoms living purely on caffeine, hugs and kisses! 💋 Catch our Mombie graphic over on our Facebook page! And stories for more of what we got up to today! And make sure you get outside this afternoon! Cause the sun is playing peekaboo with the clouds ⛅️ #sunsoutgunsout #northernbcmoms
