Get to know Prince George from a local point of view.

Social Media Stars

Social media is one of the largest ways we communicate with each other. In fact, it’s estimated that there are over 2.34 billion social media users worldwide.

With numbers like that, it can be hard to imagine that someone from a city of less than 80,000 could hit it big online. However, with social media’s global reach working in their favour, a select few of our homegrown crowd have really capitalized on the social media craze and are starting to make worldly names for themselves.

With instant access to a global audience, it really does not matter where you call home. Take this list of five PG’ers that are killing it on Instagram, as proof.

Tasha Wall – @tashawallfit

Named after the Norse God of fire, local photographer Kris Foot is taking the light painting world by storm.

With his hauntingly beautiful depiction of fire and not one, but two national titles under his belt, it’s easy to see why this Prince George native has over 17k followers. His craft is definitely not for the faint of heart as his shoots take place anywhere from abandoned buildings to twilight waterfalls. His feed is filled with an eerie type of beauty that is perfect for those who are not only unafraid of the dark but welcome it.

Her over the top photoshoots and extravagant parties will definitely make you want to consider a career change. However, although her content is mucho enviable, Jonita is more than just a bunch of pretty photos. Her blog’s message is all about ‘you doing you’ and inspiring people to live their best lives.

Tito – @bluechihuahuatito

The harsh reality is that there will always be animals on Instagram that are cooler than you are. Case in point: Tito of @bluechihuahuatito. His adorable tongue-out poses and extensive puppy wardrobe are an awesome pick me up for anyone who is having a gloomy day. It really is no surprise that this Prince George pooch has a following of over 10,000 – how could a face that enduring not be famous?

Chuck Chin

Okay so technically not Instagram famous but can a blog about P.G. social media celebrities ever be complete without including Chuck Chin?

You really need to be from the Northern Capital to truly realize the impact this retired resident has on the community as a whole. He is anywhere and everywhere there is a neighbourhood event and is constantly posting all the amazing things Prince George has to offer.
